Staying In Ohio This Summer Heres What You Can Do



When you think of vacation you may think of far-off destinations and tropical scenery.

Cedar Point

If you’re a roller coaster lover, Cedar Point should be the top on your list.

It’s located in Sandusky, right on Lake Erie. It offers a beach, water rides, some of the fastest and tallest coasters in the world, and plenty of kid-appropriate fun. If you’re not into the rides, you can take in live shows and enjoy the scenery.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

The Rock Hall is located in Cleveland, on Lake Erie. It has beautiful views of the city and the lake, as well as the largest collection of rock memorabilia in the world.

There are interactive exhibits that the kids will love, as well as artifacts from the earliest days of rock and roll, right up to the most current hit-makers.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

Rich in history, the Huffman Prairie Flying Field was used by Orville and Wilbur Wright, who worked on their airplane and learned to fly. There are examples of many kinds of aircraft at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base located in Dayton, as well as a kite-building program where children can make their own kite and fly it.

State Parks

There’s no shortage of places in Ohio to hike, picnic, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Some of the best places to hit include Mohican, Maumee Bay, Punderson Manor, Deer Creek, and Salt Fork.

You can walk the trails or even take a horse ride.

Hocking Hills

The Hocking Hills deserve their own category. Located in the Hocking State Forest in the southeastern corner of the state, you can rent cabins and explore some caves, the most famous of which are Old Man’s Cave and Ash Cave.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

The zoo comprises 580 acres in Delaware, just north of Columbus.

There are more than 7,000 animals to view, as well as 8 separate exhibits, including Asia Quest, Pachyderms, Heart of Africa, African Forest, Polar Frontier, North America, Voyage to Australia and the Islands, and the Shores.

Check out manatees at play and the kids can get their hands in the touch pool with an array of different sea creatures.
